Ferdinand beginning to eye title

A run of six straight Barclays Premier League wins has taken United two points clear of Chelsea, hammered at Old Trafford earlier this month, and Liverpool.
"We have got to the top of the league," Ferdinand notes. "We need to consolidate on that now and try to keep the momentum going to get more points on the board. If we continue to do that, in the manner of the last few games, we have got a great chance of picking up some silverware."
Ferdinand's return from a back injury was a major boost to the Red Devils - with Patrice Evra not far behind, the France full-back in line for a comeback after a foot injury he sustained against Chelsea.
Like Ferdinand, Evra has been part of a settled squad that has dominated at home and abroad for the past 12 months.
Experience is one of the reasons Ferdinand believes United will have the edge over the next four months.
"It is there, and maybe that is the edge we have got on the other teams," he said. "It is not everything, because you need that momentum - but we love playing in big pressure games."
That is not to say Ferdinand wants the title race to go down to the wire.
In the two years immediately after their 1999 Treble-winning campaign, United won the title by 18 and 10 points - which would do the England defender just fine.
"Everyone would tell you they would rather win it by 10 or 20 points, but it doesn't work like that," he said. "You never get anything easy in life. You have to work hard, and we know that."
