Fergie: Now for Arsenal

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson saw his side dispose of Roma to reach the Champions League semi-finals for a second successive season and then immediately looked forward to their crucial Premier League clash with Arsenal.

The League's leaders now face Barcelona in Europe, but Ferguson is determined his players straightaway focus on their next match against the Gunners on Sunday as they look to tie up the title.

He said: "Matches against Arsenal and Chelsea are fantastic occasions all the players look forward to. It will be a great game on Sunday. Arsenal have been our main competitors for over 15 years and it's not going to change on Sunday. It will be a hard-fought match and hopefully we can take the spoils."

Top scorer Cristiano Ronaldo was rested against Roma on Wednesday, but United still managed to secure a 3-0 aggregate win after Carlos Tevez came up with the goods and provided the only goal of the night in the second leg.

Ferguson insists he never saw it as a risk to drop the 37-goal winger.

He said: "Having a 2-0 lead against Roma and playing at Old Trafford gave me encouragement and confidence to rest some players. We trust all of our squad because they are good players and they can play in any type of game."

A double bonus for Ferguson was Gary Neville and Mikael Silvestre's return to the team after injury.

Neville was given a rousing reception by the fans when he came on nine minutes from time after a year-long absence with an ankle injury.

It was his 99th Champions League appearance and the club captain told Sky Sports 2: "I hope I can play a small part because it's frustrating missing run-ins.

"I got a good reception. The fans have always been great to me and they were again tonight."
