Ferrer too good for Roddick

David Ferrer's impressive Tennis Masters Cup continued as he reached the final with a straight-sets victory over Andy Roddick in Shanghai.

The Spaniard was the only man to emerge form the group stage of the tournament unblemished and was again in imperious form, racing to a 6-1 6-3 win.

Coming off the back of a 6-4 6-2 defeat at the hands of Federer in his final group match, Roddick was simply never in the game.

World number six Ferrer needed just 28 minutes to secure the first set.

He won 92% of points on his first serve and, after Roddick held in the opening game of the match, broke the American three times in a row in a run of six consecutive games to take the opener 6-1.

Former world number one Roddick made more of a game of it in the second set but again fell a break behind early on.

He had two break-back points at 4-2 down, but his Spanish opponent held on and served out the match two games later to seal a dominant win and a place in the final of the season-ending tournament.
