FIA to examine Mosley revelations

An extraordinary general assembly of the FIA is to take place at which the "widespread publicity" surrounding president Max Mosley is to be discussed.

Mosley has come under fire from a quartet of Formula One's major manufacturers following the publication of revelations with regard to his private life.

In a bid for what a spokesman described as "complete clarity", the assembly - comprising 222 national motoring organisations in 130 countries - will mull over the latest scandal to rock the sport.

An FIA statement read: "The president of the FIA has requested the president of the FIA senate (Michel Boeri) call an extraordinary general assembly in accordance with the provisions of the FIA statutes.

"The full membership of the FIA will be invited to attend the meeting at which the widespread publicity following an apparently illegal invasion of the FIA president's privacy will be discussed.

"The FIA have noted that Mr Mosley is preparing legal proceedings against the newspaper in question.

"It is anticipated that the meeting will take place in Paris, and will be held on the earliest practicable date.

"No further comment will be made by the FIA regarding the matter at this stage."
