Finnan dreaming of more Euro glory

Liverpool full-back Steve Finnan has been a European winner once but is now looking to repeat the achievement ahead of Tuesday night's quarter-final against PSV Eindhoven.

The Irishman was a key part of the Istanbul triumph two seasons ago against AC Milan in the Champions League Final, and - as Liverpool prepare for the first leg against Dutch League leaders PSV - Finnan reveals he cannot help dreaming of another final victory, this time in Athens.

He said: "We are five games away from winning it again and obviously you look to that. This game is very important against PSV but I think any footballer would be lying if they said they're not looking at a final and winning it."

He added: "You do that from the start of the campaign as well.

"With the European Cup being the only trophy left for us to go for now this season, obviously the focus is on that, and certainly we're in similar circumstances to when we won the European Cup a couple of years ago.

He explained: "The win over Barcelona has put us in confident mood. We know PSV are a good team and not to be taken lightly.

"Even though we haven't lost to them in the two games we played against them earlier in the competition, we know this time it's not going to be easy."

Meanwhile, Finnan cannot help look beyond the quarter-finals and even the semi-finals, and admits the prospect of a Liverpool-Manchester United final is mouthwatering.

The 30-year-old said: "That could be some game with the rivalry between the two clubs. That could happen and I'm sure a lot of people are thinking of that but first there are difficult games, PSV and then Chelsea or Valencia. But the prospect is mouthwatering."

Boss Rafael Benitez has the fitness of Craig Bellamy (rib injury) as his one main worry for Tuesday night's clash at the Philips Stadion.
