Fletcher and Berra get Scots call
18 January 2008
The Scotland boss has also rested Rangers defender David Weir for the friendly against Croatia at Hampden on March 26.
Hibernian striker Fletcher, who will be 21 on the day of the game, and 23-year-old Hearts defender Berra had been tipped for their first call-ups.
Weir had also been expected to miss out amid a punishing schedule for Rangers, with Burley claiming before this afternoon's press conference that it would not signal the end of the 37-year-old's international career.
Sunderland defender Russell Anderson has earned a recall in a 26-man squad, after returning to action on loan to Plymouth following a three-month lay-off with a knee injury.
West Brom striker Craig Beattie also misses out after picking up an injury while on loan at Preston.
Weir and Beattie are the only players to miss out from Alex McLeish's last squad, for the Euro 2008 qualifying defeat against Italy in November.
Fletcher will miss out on Scotland Under-21s duty, with Billy Stark's side playing a UEFA qualifier against Finland on the same day.
