Fletcher backs Vaughan

Vaughan laid the foundations for England's one-wicket victory over the West Indies on Saturday - their final World Cup Super Eight clash - with a superb 79 off 68 balls.
"He showed he could do it with all his skills as a batter, bowler and captain," said Fletcher. "He showed the quality he has as a batsman and what he can do if he frees himself up - and I think he freed himself up nicely against West Indies."
Prior to Saturday's display, which included six fours and two sixes, Vaughan had scored only 59 runs in his previous six innings and is yet to score a one-day international century in 86 appearances for England.
But Vaughan, who has been told by the selectors that he will captain the side for the Test series against West Indies starting at Lord's on May 17, believes Saturday's innings could be a turning point for him.
"I got a few runs and it's about time I got a few," he said.
"I played nicely and I'd have loved to have gone on and got a big hundred but that wasn't to be.
"I've not had a great World Cup. I've not scored many runs, we've been knocked out so how can you hope to get good press from that?
"I fully understand where the criticism is coming from but what I will say is I am a fighter. That innings was a fighting performance from Michael Vaughan and I will have to continue to fight to see if I can find the form that I know I can produce."
