Flintoff declared fit

Andrew Flintoff was passed fit as England won the toss and decided to bat in the first Test against West Indies at Sabina Park.

Flintoff, 31, has been troubled by a side strain and went into the series opener without a bowl in a competitive contest for six weeks. However, he has persuaded the tour management he is ready to return in practice over the past few days.

Left-armer Ryan Sidebottom also returns to the team, having last played in an international on August 2, the day before Michael Vaughan resigned as England captain.

Steve Harmison was also recalled, having been dropped for the Mohali Test before Christmas, which meant no place for either James Anderson or Graeme Swann.
