England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has been named in Lancashire's 14-man squad for their their LV County Championship match at Sussex.

Flintoff is hoping to prove his fitness after missing the first two Tests against West Indies with ankle trouble.

The 29-year-old sat out back-to-back Friends Provident Trophy matches over the weekend as a precaution but has been practising in the nets and is now hoping to step up his return.

He played as a specialist batsman for Lancashire last week and is hoping to bowl in the match at Hove, although the county have stressed it has not been decided what role he will play.
