Flintoff to make England return

Talismanic all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has been named in England's one-day squad to face India and the Twenty20 party to head to South Africa next month.

Flintoff, 29, returned to Lancashire action last week after ankle surgery and will resume his international duties in just over a fortnight alongside another World Cup player Ravi Bopara.

While Flintoff is scheduled for a return, Michael Vaughan and Andrew Strauss, two other men to have captained England in the past 12 months, have been overlooked once again.

"Our squad for the NatWest Series against India contains the majority of the players chosen against West Indies earlier this summer," said chairman of selectors David Graveney.

"We are pleased to welcome Ravi Bopara and Andrew Flintoff back to the squad and we will continue to monitor Andrew's rehabilitation from his ankle injury closely in the run-up to the tournament against India.

"India will be tough opponents in the 50-over game and the challenge for the team will be to demonstrate greater consistency in performance as we continue to build towards the next World Cup in 2011."

England show just three changes from their previous one-day squad, with Jonathan Trott, Michael Yardy and Liam Plunkett making way for the seven-match series against the Indians.

Giant fast bowler Chris Tremlett earns a recall after an impressive couple of Test performances in the past fortnight.
