Fortune favours Wenger

Manager Arsene Wenger was able to breathe a sigh of relief after Emmanuel Adebayor escaped punishment for his bust-up with Nicklas Bendtner.

Bendtner appeared to be struck by his Arsenal team-mate in the second half of Tuesday's 5-1 Carling Cup defeat by Tottenham but the Football Association decided against disciplinary action.

The Frenchman must now turn his attention to Saturday's FA Cup fourth-round tie against Newcastle and he is ready to make changes once again, saying on Arsenal TV Online: "I will rotate, yes. Some players will go out and some players who were rested will come in."

Defenders Philippe Senderos and Gael Clichy may return against the Magpies after recovering from their respective nose and groin injuries.

Newcastle defender David Rozehnal admits he did not know what to expect when Kevin Keegan walked into the dressing room for the first time.

The 27-year-old Czech Republic international knew of the former England manager and his reputation on Tyneside after his first spell in charge.

However, having spent a week or so working with the 56-year-old, he is confident his charismatic approach can help the club fight its way back to where it wants to be.

"Now I have met him and he has spoken to the team, he seems to be a really clever guy and he seems to be really close to the team," he said.

"Hopefully he will bring a lot to the team and help us to move a little bit."

Midfielders Nicky Butt and Alan Smith are available after suspension, but Emre is still banned while striker Mark Viduka (calf) remains a doubt and Joey Barton is once again unlikely to figure.
