Gavin: Price better than Harrison

David Price is a better boxer than Sydney 2000 gold medallist Audley Harrison, according to his British team-mate Frankie Gavin.

Super heavyweight Price's first boxing memory was watching Harrison strike gold, and now he is looking forward to making his own mark in Beijing on his Olympic Games debut.

"I think David Price is better than Audley Harrison," said Gavin, who last year became Britain's first amateur world champion. "He's the hardest training super heavyweight I've worked with. He does the same work as everyone else, puts it in on the runs and he's got a lot of heart."

Price himself is determined to grab his chance for glory.

He said: "This is a massive occasion, the Olympic Games mean everything to me. All the hard work is done and I can't wait to get in there.

"I think I've got a good chance if I perform to the best of my ability. I think I've got ability to beat anyone in the draw.

"If I get my tactics right, I'll get a medal. Ideally, it will be gold.

"I've had eight weeks of intensive training for this tournament. I don't think I could be in any better shape at this stage. Everything has gone to plan for me."
