Gayle gets Windies off to flyer

A blistering 66 from Chris Gayle ensured West Indies made a solid start to the first Test against South Africa in Port Elizabeth.

Gayle's knock came off just 49 balls and helped the Windies reach 130 for two at lunch on day one at St George's Park.

His opening partner Daren Ganga was the first wicket to fall after the tourists were put in by home captain Graeme Smith, caught behind by Mark Boucher after getting an outside edge to Andre Nel for 33.

West Indies skipper Gayle was the only other batsman to perish in the opening session when he edged to Jacques Kallis at first slip off the bowling of Paul Harris.

Runako Morton and Marlon Samuels were at the crease at lunch on 13 and 14 respectively.
