Giants pocket 'Rocket'

Huddersfield have signed North Queensland Cowboys utility player Rod Jensen on a two-and-a-half-year contract.

The 28-year-old, known as 'Rocket', has been released by the Cowboys to join the engage Super League club immediately.

With John Skandalis having now qualified for a Greek passport, Jensen will take up the third slot on the club's overseas quota alongside Brad Drew and Jamahl Lolesi.

"Rod is a highly experienced utility player who can cover a number of positions," said Giants head coach Jon Sharp. "He will be a great addition to our squad."

Jensen began his top-grade career with the now-defunct Adelaide Rams before continuing in the NRL with Canberra and then Cronulla.

He has played more than 100 matches in the Australian competition, scoring 36 tries.

Jensen said: "I have always followed the Super League and the Giants in particular as I know that they have kept in close contact with my career over a number of years. I am looking forward to the challenge."
