Giles set to retire

The 34-year-old left-arm spinner has struggled with hip problems for over a year and looks set to announce his retirement on Friday.
He is due to make an announcement at the Oval, where he famously helped England win the Ashes two years ago and where he began his career as a seamer with Surrey.
Giles, who claimed 143 wickets from his 54 Tests, saved one of his best performances for his last appearance at the Oval when he hit 59 and shared in a crucial 109-run eighth-wicket stand with Kevin Pietersen in the final Ashes Test of 2005.
His contribution during that successful series was rewarded with an MBE alongside the rest of the side in the New Year's Honours list, and he played in the opening two Tests in Pakistan that November before his hip problems flared up.
The hip problems recovered sufficiently for Giles to be controversially selected for the opening two Tests of last winter's Ashes series ahead of Monty Panesar.
But after returning home early from Australia for family reasons, he broke down again and has now had three operations in the last 18 months.
Speaking just a few weeks ago, Giles admitted he was considering his future after seeking advice from several medical specialists on his complaint.
"It's a difficult time because cricket is what I do and cricket is what I've done for 20 years, but I do have to start thinking about the implications," said Giles.
"It's great to keeping going and saying to yourself: 'I'll be fine', but the chances of recurrences are very high and I can't keep going through operations."
