Grant set for Euro coaching go-ahead

Under UEFA's club licensing system, coaches at clubs in the Champions League have to have the highest qualification available.
It is understood however that UEFA will permit the Israeli to carry out his duties unrestrained during the 12-week period of grace allowed by the Premier League while the issue over his licence is sorted out.
Grant does have the highest form of coaching badge that was available when he qualified in Israel but the country has only just started issuing Pro Licences and according to UEFA sources the 52-year-old will have to complete a refresher course in July to get the full qualification.
The Premier League board are expected to decide whether to give special dispensation for Grant to continue in his Chelsea post until he has the Pro Licence, but as an experienced former coach of the Israel national team he should have little to worry about.
Middlesbrough manager Gareth Southgate was given dispensation by the Premier League board last season even though he had no managerial experience at all.
Manchester United opposed the decision on Southgate and are expected to take a similar stance on Grant despite their own manager Sir Alex Ferguson not having the Pro Licence himself.
Ferguson and Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill were given dispensation because they helped set up the coaching course in England for the Pro Licence and because of their experience.
