Graveney may have to re-apply

David Graveney may be required to re-apply for a job with the England and Wales Cricket Board when Hugh Morris' changes to the set-up of selectors are pushed through.

Graveney is currently the England's chairman of selectors - but Morris' arrival as managing director is expected to bring innovations, with the role possibly becoming full-time and being renamed.

"It's his job to appoint the selectors," said Graveney.

He added: "We had a preliminary meeting with Hugh when they got back from Sri Lanka where he asked (selector) Geoff Miller and me about observations of the jobs we do and how it works for me specifically with the team.

"It seems more than likely the job description will change. My understanding of law is that it will be necessary for the selectors to re-apply, should they wish, for whatever job comes into the public domain.

"The job description still has to be agreed; in the meantime Geoff and I will continue to do our jobs as we have in the past."

There has been talk of a "national selector" being appointed to replace the chairman of selectors in a full-time role that would require going on tour.
