Gretna game gets go-ahead

Gretna's Clydesdale Bank Premier League fixture with Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday will go ahead as planned.

The Borders club went into administration on Wednesday and David Elliot, of insolvency experts Wilson Field, admitted on Thursday that the club were struggling to put together a team for the match against the Dons.

But a Gretna spokesperson has said: "At the time there were only 10 players, I think, forthcoming. But we've got a squad now capable of travelling so there's no problems at all doing that."

They continued: "Obviously it's not going to have some of the players that were here beforehand. It will include three or four under-19 players but generally it still contains a lot of the original squad.

"If we can get the gate receipts from the Celtic game next week, that will put us in a better position, so we're just holding on until then really."
