Gunners fight back to beat Toffees

Arsenal came from behind to beat Everton 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium with goals from Samir Nasri, Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott.

Leon Osman had put the visitors ahead before Nasri levelled and the home side went on to secure three points.

Van Persie nodded in from close range to complete the comeback, with Walcott drilling home an angled effort in stoppage time.

Everton took an early lead when the ball was knocked up field and dropped back to Osman. The midfielder played a pass out wide to Steven Pienaar on the left, continued his run into the area to meet the return cross and stabbed the ball past Manuel Almunia.

Arsenal should have been level when van Persie beat the offside trap and collected a long pass from Cesc Fabregas into the area but his shot was blocked with a brilliant reaction save from American stopper Tim Howard.

Everton went close again when Joleon Lescott's downward header from a Leighton Baines cross was cleared off the line by Gael Clichy.

But Arsenal drew level through Nasri after 48 minutes. A corner was only half-cleared and Denilson played the ball back to the edge of the area, where Mikael Silvestre touched it back to Nasri, who drilled a low strike past an unsighted Howard.

Arsenal again found a way through after 70 minutes as Emmanuel Adebayor went into the left side of the box, before setting up Fabregas.

His strike was parried by Howard and van Persie was on hand to nod the ball in, despite the best efforts of Baines on the line.

Abou Diaby came on for his first appearance of the season to replace Nasri and promptly set up Walcott to make it 3-1 to Arsenal as the game entered stoppage time.
