Gunners in Pole position

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger already has two top-class goalkeepers in his squad, following the decision by veteran German Jens Lehmann to agree a contract extension, with Spaniard Manuel Almunia already on the books.
It now seems the 22-year-old Fabianski - understudy to Celtic's Artur Boruc in the Poland national team - will add to the competition, as his agent Martin Wiesner said: "We are very close to a deal with Arsenal, an agreement is there between both clubs."
He added: "We just have to arrange some details of his contract at Legia and with Arsenal. Lukasz had medical tests on Tuesday and he has flown back to Poland. I expect him to return to London later this week to have more talks."
Wenger, who had been strongly linked with a move for Scotland's number one Craig Gordon at Hearts, was pleased to have secured the services of Lehmann, 37, for another season. However, the Arsenal boss warned there were no guarantees of a first-team place.
Wenger said last month: "I see Jens as a top-glass goalkeeper and Almunia as a top-class goalkeeper, so it will be a battle at some stage because Almunia has improved tremendously. Manuel is going up and Jens thinks he is still going up!
"Jens is trying every day to make life difficult for those who compete with him. That is very good because it makes those who are competing with him improve as well.
"He is a 100% professional. He gives something to the team as well in the dressing-room if it is needed."
