Gunners up for Spurs derby - Wenger

Arsene Wenger is confident his Arsenal squad will be "switched on" when they return from the international break and head straight into Saturday's north London derby with Tottenham at White Hart Lane.

The Gunners have impressed during the first month of the new campaign and Wenger hopes his squad will quickly respond after the imposed break for the potentially explosive derby clash.

He said: "The players have been under big pressure with their national team, but it is a big game, so players know they have to be switched on."

There is certainly no love lost between the two arch rival north London clubs.

Spurs have moved closer to Arsenal over the past couple of seasons, finishing fifth twice.

However, following a heavy summer spending spree, manager Martin Jol is now under immense pressure after three defeats from their opening five league games.

Wenger was involved in an angry touchline confrontation with the Dutchman during the 1-1 draw at Highbury in April 2006.

The French coach, however, maintains there will be no added incentive tomorrow other than securing three points.

Wenger said: "You prepare to win your game, and you do not know what goes on (with other managers). You want every manager to have the freedom to work - but he is under pressure, I am under pressure, we are all under pressure to win games."
