The 22-year-old Wales international, who scored nine tries in 23 games for the Bulls last season, heads to Belle Vue initially for a month and is set to play for the Wildcats in Sunday's friendly against Doncaster.
Wakefield, who open the engage Super League season at Wigan on Sunday week, need another threequarter after losing Matt Petersen and Ryan Atkins to injury.
Halley - who can also play full-back - played in the Bulls' friendly at Dewsbury last Friday but is behind Semi Tadulala and new signing Rikki Sheriffe in the pecking order at Odsal, and Tame Tupou is also close to full fitness after undergoing knee surgery.
"The deal suits both Dave and Wakefield as well as us at this moment in time," Bradford coach Steve McNamara told the Bradford Telegraph and Argus.
"He needs to be playing at the start of the season and his prospects of starting at Wakefield are very good."
