Hamilton sets the pace

Lewis Hamilton landed the first blow of the weekend by posting the fastest time in the first practice session for the British Grand Prix - but he found the going slippery.

The World Championship leader had two off-track excursions on a chilly and blustery day at Silverstone.

But Hamilton was able to set a time of one minute 21.100 seconds for McLaren, with Kimi Raikkonen 0.111 seconds adrift and Ferarri team-mate Felipe Massa 0.185secs down.

World champion Fernando Alonso, Hamilton's team-mate, was fourth fastest, more than half a second behind.
