Hamilton stays cool after US success

Lewis Hamilton lived the American dream in Indianapolis on Sunday - but he refused to contemplate world domination as he opened up a 10-point lead at the top of the drivers' championship.

The McLaren rookie completed a perfect fortnight across the Atlantic by adding victory in the United States Grand Prix to his maiden Formula One success in Canada the previous weekend.

Hamilton said: "I have to be smart and realise that I'm running at the front, and there is a possibility of winning the championship - but I still think it's far, far too early to even think about it or get any hopes up."

He added: "Anything can happen during the season. I just have to try to remain consistent and try to keep on winning.

"But as many points from each race is good for the team and also for me. I'm sure that's what me and Fernando (Alonso) are going to try to do."
