Harbhajan strikes early for India

India threw down the gauntlet to Australia on the penultimate day of the second Border-Gavaskar Test, setting Ricky Ponting's side a formidable target of 516 for victory.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh then put even more pressure on the tourists by removing openers Matthew Hayden and Simon Katich after the pair had made a determined start to their second innings.

Hayden, who has struggled on the tour, was dismissed leg before for 29, while Katich was caught by Sachin Tendulkar off Harbhajan for 20. Tea was taken at the fall of Katich's wicket, with Australia in a spot of bother at 50 for two.

Earlier in the day, a century from Gautam Gambhir (104) and half-centuries from Virender Sehwag (90) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (68 not out) had helped India declare their second innings on 314 for three - an overall lead of 515.
