Harrington on course to miss cut

Open champion Padraig Harrington looked certain to miss his first halfway cut in Europe for 19 months following a second-round 74 in the Wales Open at Celtic Manor.

While little-known Australian Scott Strange stayed out in front by adding a 66 to his opening 63 for a 12-under-par total, Harrington slumped to two over.

"I don't like missing any cuts - it's pride - but it will make me more disciplined for the next 10 days," said Harrington.

"I putted abominably and it was a day of some poor decisions, but it just convinces me to be more committed for the next week and it gives me something very strong to work on."

Nick Dougherty is at six under after a 69, while Darren Clarke carded a 68 to move on to four under.
