Harris: Bulls were robbed

Iestyn Harris insists Bradford were "robbed" of victory over his former club Leeds as Super League's Millennium Magic weekend ended in controversy.

Jordan Tansey's last-gasp try came from a disputed penalty with several Leeds players offside, while the Bulls had two tries disallowed in the 42-38 loss.

Harris said: "We had a tough night from the officials. I thought we were the better side and deserved the result."

Tansey pounced for the all-important try in the sixth minute of stoppage time to give the Rhinos victory in the sixth and final match of the two-day extravaganza in Cardiff.

Tansey followed up a penalty kick for goal by Leeds captain Kevin Sinfield that rebounded off the crossbar to finally settle an epic derby that looked to have gone Bradford's way.

The Bulls were furious over referee Steve Ganson's decision to award the penalty, arguing they should have had a scrum for a Leeds knock-on, and claimed that Tansey was offside from the kick.

Harris was diplomatic in his criticism but insisted the officials had got it wrong.

"It was a knock on," he insisted. "It was an out-and-out mistake by the referee. And the guy who scored was five yards offside in front of the kicker. It's two ridiculous mistakes."

Sinfield, who had to wait for the Bradford protests to die down before he could take the final conversion, had some sympathy for his opponents, who also conceded a late try to lose the derby at Odsal last month.

"I saw the way their players were carrying on," he said. "I can understand their grievances if it proves that Jordan was offside. The game was nip and tuck and could have gone either way. I thought a draw would have been a fair result."
