Hart fails in UEFA appeal

UEFA have rejected an appeal for England Under-21 goalkeeper Joe Hart to have his yellow card from the European Championship semi-final overturned.

Hart, who was booked at the end of the semi-final against Sweden for ungentlemanly conduct during the penalty shoot-out, will miss Monday's final in Malmo when Stuart Pearce's youngsters face Germany.

Pearce will choose between Scott Loach and Joe Lewis to deputise for Hart, who recently joined Birmingham on loan from Manchester City.

Loach started against Germany in the group stage when Pearce rested his first-choice players.
