Hasselbaink leaves The Valley

Striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has been released by Charlton after just one season at The Valley.

The 35-year-old scored just two league goals in 25 Premiership appearances for the Addicks as well as a brace against Chesterfield in the Carling Cup.

However, the Holland international's last goal was in the Addicks' 3-1 home defeat by his former team Middlesbrough in January and his presence was not enough to save the club from relegation to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Hasselbaink joined the south-east London club last summer on a free transfer from Boro where he had spent two successful seasons.
