Hatton comfortable with underdog tag

Ricky Hatton has vowed to upset the odds and defeat Manny Pacquiao in their light-welterweight showdown at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night.

The Las Vegas oddsmakers and boxing critics have the Filipino, widely considered the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, as a heavy favourite to beat the British hero when they fight for Hatton's IBO and Ring Magazine titles at 140 pounds.

"I've been reading all the websites, magazines and papers and everybody seems to have made their mind up about this fight already," said Hatton. "That doesn't scare me, I've been here before. They said I was an overhyped, overprotected, beer-drinking Englishman - but I'm here to shock the world again."

Hatton likened his situation to when he fought and defeated Kostya Tszyu for the IBF light-welterweight title at the MEN Arena in Manchester four years ago.

"I was written off at the start when I first won this title from Kostya Tszyu, which seems a lifetime ago now. I think I was the 5-1 underdog then so I'm used to being in this position again," added Hatton.

"I am the underdog and I can understand people picking him, especially because of his exceptional win over Oscar (De La Hoya) recently.

"Manny is the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world so I can understand him being (favourite) but this is my weight division."
