Haye eyes Wladimir clash

David Haye believes his first shot at the heavyweight world title will come against Wladimir Klitschko next year.

Early signs suggested Haye would meet Wladimir's elder brother Vitali for his WBC belt, but the 28-year-old insists boxing politics has forced a rethink.

"Wladimir doesn't have to fight Alexander Povetkin until September," he told Setanta Sports News. "He's got a good few months to slip in a voluntary fight with a top ranked heavyweight contender like myself."

He added: "Wladimir's schedule is a lot clearer than Vitali's. Vitali's got to fight Juan Carlos Gomez in March, so he wouldn't be able to fight over the summer."

Wladimir defends his IBF, WBO and IBO versions of the heavyweight title against Hasim Rahman in Germany on Saturday and Haye will be at ringside.

"I know Klitschko's going to go out there and look spectacular," he said.

"I want him to look spectacular because his last few fights haven't been the most dynamic.

"But Rahman's going to bring it. Rahman's going to try and land that right hand, that big right hand that KO'd the great Lennox Lewis."
