Hayman confirms Falcons switch

The Falcons are set to announce the signing of the 27-year-old Highlanders forward, who will join up with compatriots Joe McDonnell, Loki Crichton, Mark Mayerhofler and Mark Sorenson at Kingston Park, at a press conference.
Hayman, who made his international debut against Samoa in 2001, becoming the 1,000th player to represent the All Blacks. He has won 35 caps for New Zealand and played in all four of the All Blacks autumn Tests earlier this season.
"It's a big step for me to take but at the same time it's a big opportunity," he said.
"Hopefully I will be going to Newcastle as a member of an All Blacks team that wins the World Cup, which is my immediate goal.
"I've had fantastic opportunities already in New Zealand with Otago, the Highlanders and the All Blacks and I'm grateful for the support I've received."
Hayman's departure follows All Blacks centre Aaron Mauger, who will join Leicester later this year, and scrum-half Byron Kelleher, who has agreed terms with French club Agen, in a trend of top Test players leaving New Zealand.
"Going to Newcastle now doesn't mean I'm totally lost to New Zealand rugby - I'd like to think that I could come back and round out my career here," added Hayman.
