Henman ready for Tsonga test

Henman, 32, delayed his grand slam exit by at least another match in New York on Wednesday when he knocked out 27th seed Dmitry Tursunov and faces Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the second round on Friday.
"I understand once you start playing back-to-back, the workload increases and it can get sore." said Henman, "But I think I should be all right."
Back problems were one of the major reasons Henman announced he will retire from tennis after Britain's Davis Cup clash with Croatia at Wimbledon in September.
Yet, after a first-round victory over Tursunov in which he played some vintage tennis, Henman is optimistic he can remain fit at Flushing Meadows in the final grand slam of his career.
"It's good," Henman said. "After I lost in Cincinnati I was probably hitting every other day, then just doing a lot of work in the gym. That's the best way for it to settle down. I felt great on court and I think it will be fine."
After defeating Tursunov, Henman described what he had to go through immediately after coming off the Louis Armstrong Stadium court to counteract the pain in his back returning.
"Just straightaway get on the bike and start to loosen things up, then a lot of stretching," he said.
"Then a pretty long massage, a lot more stretching. A lot more stretching tomorrow, just to keep my lower back - the joints, the muscles - as loose as possible. I think I should be okay."
