Hinkel keen to stay at Hoops

Andreas Hinkel wants to stay at Celtic, according to his agent.

Hull are reportedly preparing a bid of up to £3million for Hinkel, with Hoops boss Tony Mowbray admitting on Saturday he was aware of "some interest" in the German right-back.

Cologne are also said to be possible suitors but the player's agent Klaus Schaude said in the Scottish Sun: "We have not spoken to other clubs. Andreas is very happy with Celtic and wants to stay. I have spoken to him and he feels good at Celtic. He wants to stay."

It had been suggested Hinkel will be sold after the Champions League play-off round tie with Arsenal, the first leg of which takes place on Tuesday night.

Hinkel's fellow full-back, summer signing Danny Fox, insists Celtic can knock the Gunners out of their stride.

Arsenal looked imperious in thrashing Fox's former club Everton on Saturday but the 23-year-old said: "We shouldn't give them too much respect. We need to get in their faces, play our own brand of football and take it from there.

"The likes of Stoke have given Arsenal a hard time. Tony Pulis' side have shown you can get at them. I also think the fans at Celtic Park will be a massive help for us. I have been blown away by the fans here and the atmosphere on Tuesday night should be amazing.

"I'm not sure Arsenal will be over-confident about playing us. In any case, we have to think about our own game and not bother too much about Arsenal. If they watched us play against Dinamo Moscow in the last round, they will know that we put on a very good show and will have taken note."

Fox believes wingers Shaun Maloney and Aiden McGeady could be the key to Celtic's hopes on Tuesday night.

"We need to get Shaun and Aiden on the ball as much as possible," said Fox, a £1.5million signing from Coventry. "They are unplayable at times. The more we get them on the ball, the more we dominate the play and get the fans going. I'm glad I don't play against them."
