Home talent not excluded - Eriksson

Sven-Goran Eriksson has insisted there is room for young domestic talent within his expanding foreign legion at Manchester City.

All eight of Eriksson's signings so far have come from abroad but Eriksson is adamant home-grown stars Michael Johnson, Stephen Ireland and Micah Richards can still shine at Eastlands.

"Of course there is room for people like Johnson and Ireland," said the former England boss. "They are excellent players. It is the same with Onuoha and Richards. They are extremely good talents and they will both play a lot of games."

Understandably though, Eriksson's major focus over the next seven days is to try and integrate the new arrivals.

He was quick to point out two of his starting line-up in Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to Valencia, Brazilian international Elano and Spanish full-back Javi Garrido had only completed two full training sessions.

And, in Elano's case, that amounted to his entire footballing output since his country's Copa America defeat of Argentina last month.

"Elano has not done anything since the Copa America," Eriksson added. "It is impossible for him to be at 100% but I am confident he will do a big job for us."
