Horne on comeback trail

Hull have been handed a huge boost with the news that Great Britain half-back Richard Horne has been given the all clear to resume his career.

The 25-year-old, who suffered a foot injury and then a career threatening neck problem, is now free to resume training.

"Every cloud has a silver lining and you don't get news better than this," said coach Richard Agar.

"I am absolutely thrilled to pieces, not just for myself and the club but for Richard and his family because this must be like having two Christmases in one year.

"I can't imagine the emotions Richard is going through right now or the relief he must be feeling. This news is fantastic, especially after a few dark days we, and he, have had since he suffered the injury."

Horne, who has made over 200 appearances for his hometown club, has lost 10 kilograms during his rehabilitation and Agar concedes that the player has to rebuild his fitness before thinking about a first-team return.

"He will resume full training straight away and one of the first things he has to do is put back the 10 kilos he has lost," he said.

"Obviously everyone wants him back on the field as quickly as possible but we're not putting any timescale on his return. He will play when he's ready."

With just 26 days until Hull's Challenge Cup final appearance against St Helens though, it is unlikely that Horne will be ready to play at Wembley Stadium.
