Hornets land Ellington

Watford have signed striker Nathan Ellington from West Brom in a club-record £3.25million deal, rising to £4.25million on appearances.

The 26-year-old, who scored for the Baggies in their Carling Cup win against Peterborough last night, has signed a four-year contract.

Ellington made his name at Bristol Rovers and then Wigan, finishing the 2004/05 season as the Championship's top goalscorer.

West Brom boss Tony Mowbray told the club's website: "It was well documented during the January window that Nathan wanted to leave the football club.

"But, when a transfer didn't materialise, all credit to him for getting his head down for the remainder of last season.

"Another opportunity has arisen for him to leave and Nathan expressed a desire to take up that opportunity.

"We're getting an excellent fee for his services, so I think this deal is right for both the club and for Nathan. We wish him all the best at Watford."
