Houghton leaves Derbyshire

Derbyshire's director of cricket Dave Houghton has left the club after four years, the county have announced.

The former Zimbabwe captain's contract was due to expire at the end of this season and, after talks between the two sides, it was agreed Houghton would relinquish his duties immediately - that decision will allow the club to begin the process of looking for a replacement.

"I am obviously disappointed to be leaving because I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here but this is the best way forward for both the club and myself," said the 50-year-old.

"I hope to find another role in cricket before too long and wish Derbyshire every success for the future."
