Hoy closes in on gold hat-trick

Chris Hoy moved a step closer to a hat-trick of gold medals after coming through his semi-final against Mickael Bourgain of France.

The 32-year-old from Edinburgh was hardly troubled by Bourgain and won the best-of-three series in straight races.

He will meet Great Britain team-mate Jason Kenny in the final and the 20-year-old Lancastrian looked in fine form as he also came through his semi in straight races, beating Germany's Maximilian Levy.

Hoy and Bradley Wiggins - who races later in the Madison in partnership with Mark Cavendish - are both seeking to become the first Britons in 100 years to win three Olympic golds at the same Games.
