Hoy continues superb form

Sir Chris Hoy led a British 1-2-3 in qualification for the men's sprint on day two of the Track World Cup at the Manchester Velodrome.

The 33-year-old four-time Olympic champion set a flying 200metres track record of 9.869 seconds - bettering the previous best he set en route to winning the British title last week by 0.121secs - to demonstrate his supreme form on his return to international competition following a hip injury.

Hoy, who won keirin gold on day one, was the only rider to dip below the 10-second barrier as Matt Crampton qualified second quickest and Beijing Olympic silver medallist Jason Kenny was third.

Ross Edgar was seventh with the first knockout round beginning later this afternoon.
