Hughes looking for a lift
26 January 2007
Rovers head into the match at Eastlands on the back of a run that has seen them win one of their last eight Premier League fixtures, taking just five points in total.
"It's just a question of us keeping on doing the right things, and it will turn around," insisted Hughes. "We are six or seven points better off than we were at this time last year, so we are still very much ahead of the game."
He added: "The second half of the season is also always our stronger half, while we have been through a period of late where we have faced a lot of the top teams, a lot in the top 10.
"So this period will pass. Every team has a period like we're going through.
"If you look at Everton's season, they started slowly and now they are on a run, whereas we have done it the other way around.
"These things even themselves out over the course of a season, and there's still a long way to go yet, so I fully anticipate we will have a fine season.
"But when we face teams in the bottom half of the table, that is when we will really need to pick up points.
"Obviously we're disappointed with the return we've had at the minute, but we have still showed people the qualities we have.
"We just need to get our noses in front and start winning games."
