Hughes signs new Rovers deal

Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has refused to rule out the possibility of a return to international football despite signing a new two-and-a-half-year contract at Ewood Park on Friday.

Former Wales coach Hughes, who is a 40-1 shot for the England job, has agreed an improved deal which will take him up to 2010 with the option of a 12-month rolling agreement to follow that.

Hughes admitted: "At some point in my career I'd like to try international management again - possibly when I'm older and greyer than I already am - but I'm not anticipating getting a call from the FA."

Hughes' new deal will delight Rovers fans who have seen a rapid improvement during his three-year tenure and his side head to Fulham for Sunday's Barclays Premier League clash standing seventh in the table.

Hughes added: "I'm delighted. We've been talking for a matter of weeks and we've been able to agree on the terms of the contract. I feel there is more work to do here.

"First and foremost my job is to get results and I feel I've done that and the club itself has moved forward as well. I'm excited with what's ahead of us and there's more to come from this squad of players."
