Hull KR ready to move on

Hull Kingston Rovers chairman Neil Hudgell claims his club are "moving on to bigger and better things" after deciding not to appeal against a Rugby Football League fine.

The Robins were charged £7,500 plus costs, after being found guilty of failing to control supporters at Craven Park following the the ugly scenes that followed the Humberside derby with Hull FC on July 8.

"We respect the RFL's decision and we will move on from it," he said.

A handful of fans from both sides clashed on the pitch after Hull FC's 30-20 win in the engage Super League - and the home side have paid the price, although £5,000 of the fine has been suspended for a year.

An RFL statement read: "At the RFL operational rules tribunal, Hull Kingston Rovers have been found guilty of failing to use best endeavours to ensure supporters do not act unlawfully and do not invade the pitch."

But rather than appeal, Hudgell says he is preferring to look to the future.

"We are moving on to bigger and better things. We are looking forward to the 2008 season. We are putting this incident firmly behind us, as we approach what we expect to be a very exciting year in our history."

The news came on the day that the fixtures for the 2008 season threw up a further four meetings between the rivals.

They will meet at the Millennium Magic event in Cardiff on May 4, whilst there will be meetings at Craven Park on March 21 and September 7. The sole game at the KC Stadium is on July 20.
