Hull swoop for Tansey

Hull have completed a third major signing for next season with the capture of Leeds utility player Jordan Tansey, who is currently playing on loan with Sydney Roosters.

The 22-year-old Tansey, one of only two Englishmen plying their trade in Australia's National Rugby League, has signed a two-year deal and will line up alongside current Roosters team-mate Craig Fitzgibbon and St Helens scrum-half Sean Long at the KC Stadium next year.

Hull are paying a £30,000 transfer fee to the Rhinos to release him from his current deal, which was due to run until 2011, while the Roosters have also agreed to cancel the second year of his contract with them.

Tansey said: "I have really enjoyed the experience of playing for the Roosters and I'm totally committed to giving them my best throughout the rest of this season.

"However, when Hull came in for me it was an opportunity I felt I couldn't turn down.

"I am excited by the signing of Fitzgibbon, who I know well from my time here, and obviously the recent signing of Sean Long is massive for the club and I can't wait to play with him.

"My chats with Richard (Agar) went really well and I loved the sound of what he wants to achieve, and I am desperate to play my part in that.

"Joining Hull also allows me to be closer to my friends and family again, which is very important to me, and I can't wait to run out in front of the Black and White fans at the KC."

Tansey, who has so far played eight times for the Roosters, made 52 appearances for Leeds and started at stand-off, loose forward, wing, full-back and hooker in their title-winning season in 2008.
