Huntelaar ready to stay put

Reported Manchester United target Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is ready to shun the attention of several of Europe's top clubs to work under an all-star coaching team at Ajax.

The striker has admitted he could be tempted to stay with the Dutch club by the prospect of working with new head coach Marco van Basten and new coach Dennis Bergkamp.

Huntelaar is keen to learn from the two striking legends and may put off a lucrative move abroad, as the Eredivisie's top scorer told Ajax Life, the magazine of the official Ajax supporters club: "That's correct. I admire them for what they have achieved. For me as a striker it's the creme de la creme to work with."

He added: "They are two former strikers from whom I can learn a lot. I am open to that. Such a thing can become very important when I make up my mind a few weeks from now."

Huntelaar is in his third season at Ajax. In 82 Eredivisie games for the club, he has scored 70 goals.

This season he led the league with 34 goals.
