Hutton keen to face Iceland

Alan Hutton has begged George Burley to unleash him on Iceland in a match Scotland cannot afford to lose.

The Tottenham full-back made his comeback after four months on the sidelines with a foot injury when he played the final 20 minutes of Saturday's 3-0 defeat in Holland.

He now wants a starring role at Hampden on Wednesday, knowing the outcome of the match against Iceland could make or break Scotland's chances of qualifying for the World Cup. He said: "I got on the other night and I don't see why I wouldn't be able to do my best if called upon."

He added: "Back at Spurs I've been working very hard - a lot harder than the last time - knowing that these games were coming up.

"Personally, I think I'm quite naturally fit anyway. I'm feeling very good at the moment and, if called on, I hope I'll be able to do my best.

"I'm feeling fresh and I'm ready to play."

Hutton claims Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has no reservations about him playing 90 minutes.

Asked about speculation to the contrary, he said: "Not that I'm aware of.

"I've heard things through different people - but I'm here and I'm fit. If I wasn't fit I wouldn't be in the squad. In my eyes, I'm fit to play.

"Obviously it wasn't ideal being out for three months at the start of the season, coming back, and then being out for another four months and only playing one reserve game. It's not the best time to come into two massive international games. But I've been working so hard and I've been desperate to play for months."
