I'm back to my best - Carew
14 January 2009
The Norwegian international netted his 13th goal of the campaign during Sunday's 3-3 draw with Everton to make him joint leading scorer alongside Gabriel Agbonlahor.
Carew said: "I feel good. Because of the injury it's been a lot of goals in very few games for me this season."
He added: "If I hadn't been out for three or four months then it could have been a lot more. It could have been 20 goals easily but you never know.
"I'm just happy to be back. I had netted quite a lot of goals before I got injured with my back and now I've just continued on from there. I lost about 20 games which is a pity.
"My body feels better and better. I'm not far from my best. I'm more or less around 100%."
Villa boss Martin O'Neill feels Carew can be one of the best strikers in the Barclays Premier League but Carew knows the injuries have halted his progress.
He said: "I always want to be the best and I always hope to fulfil my potential.
"But, of course, injury setbacks like that one recently always make it difficult."
