Impressive Aussies see off India

Australia produced a stunning display with the ball to claim a thrilling 50-run victory over India in the latest Commonwealth Bank Series clash at the Adelaide Oval.

Having reached just 203 for nine in their own innings, the hosts then rattled through India's batting line-up to bowl out their opponents for 153.

Mitchell Johnson finished with figures of three for 42 while James Hopes, Nathan Bracken and Brad Hogg picked up two wickets apiece for the Australians.

It was Bracken who struck first to claim the vital wicket of Sachin Tendulkar for just five, the batsman out leg before wicket while playing across the line.

Irfan Pathan, who had done much of the damage for India with the ball, was next to go for a pedestrian 14, edging a Hopes delivery to Matthew Hayden at backward point.

India were still looking good on 55 for two, but the next two wickets fell for a mere four runs to leave the tourists reeling.

Johnson removed opener Gautam Gambhir, caught at gully by Ricky Ponting for 34, while two balls later Rohit Sharma (1) was also on his way back to pavilion after sending an outside edge into the gloves of wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist off the bowling of Hopes.

Yuvraj Singh and Mahendra Singh Dhoni did their best to help India recover with a fifth-wicket partnership of 56 before the former was caught at long on by Michael Clarke off Brad Hogg for 26. And Dhoni (37) was run out while attempting a quick single to leave the Indians in deep trouble on 134 for six.

The final four wickets went for just 19 runs as the lower order caved in, the impressive Johnson twice combining with Gilchrist to dismiss Harbhajan Singh (4) and Robin Uthappa (18).

Gilchrist was involved in the final two wickets as well, first stumping Shanthakumaran Sreesanth (1) as he came down the track to Hogg and then holding an outside edge from Munaf Patel off Bracken to send the tailender packing for a duck.
