Ince happy to be Dons guv'nor

MK Dons manager Paul Ince insisted he is happy to stay with the Coca-Cola League Two side after guiding them to their first silverware with a 2-0 win over Grimsby in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy final.

The former England midfielder has been linked with almost every vacancy in the Championship this season, as well as relegated Premier League side Derby, but insists that the fledgling club can match his ambition.

He said: "There have been situations that we are all aware of where clubs have approached our chairman to talk to me but he has made it worth my while not to go anywhere else. At this moment in time I'm happy to stay."

He added: "We have a three or four-year plan where we feel we can take this club into the Championship.

"You look at Bristol City now and Stoke and they have got a real chance of getting into the Premier League, so that shows you what can be achieved.

"There is no reason why, with the right finances, the right staff and the right players that we can't take this club further.

"But that's in the future. If clubs come in for you as a player or as a manager then you have that decision to make whether to stay or to go.

"We have got the momentum going now and there is something fresh and new happening here and I'm happy to be a part of that.

"The most important thing for me in football management is to have a good relationship with your chairman and we are both singing from the same hymn sheet here.

"As long as we are successful on the pitch, which is down to me, then I will be here - unless Manchester United put in a call. But I don't think Alex is planning to step down just yet!"
