India boosted by last-session wickets

Andrew Strauss registered his 13th Test century after tea on the opening day in Chennai - but India fought their way back into the contest with three wickets during the evening session.

The 31-year-old left-hander reached the milestone seven overs after the break at the Chepauk Stadium to settle England's nerves following the loss of two quick wickets - Ian Bell (17) and captain Kevin Pietersen (four).

But the hosts struck again later in the session when Harbhajan Singh dismissed Paul Collingwood (nine) to leave England on 195 for four.
